Yes, this is very much a “being Asian” thing. Let me break it down for you.

Imagine emigrating to Uzbekistan and never being able to have a Slim Jim ever again. Furthermore the only Uzbek equivalent is chewy goat rectum. What a devastating blow! My friend, I too have a similar plight.

Meet our New York City Correspondent, Allie Ferrara

In short, I am a polyglot, turophiliac, writer, foodie and wino, Arabist, LGBT activist and a corporate misfit.

Originally from the South but raised in the North, my favorite foods are from the far east. By day I work on Wall Street, by night I work on just about everything else from my fledgling first book to my recipes.

I am Smith College educated and with that, a firebrand feminist. You can hear my opinions on just about everything by following me on Twitter or on Yelp.

Good Ol’ St. Paddy!

St. Paddy’s Day 2007

By Lexi Boddy / Newport, Wales

Traditionally, St. Patrick’s Day is a religious festival, “All hail the patron saints of Ireland,” but no one is complaining that the world has adopted this day as their own as an excuse to get pissed up*, eat plentifully and don* the green items at the back of the wardrobe every year on the 17th March.

Boston Branch: LeeAnne Smith

Hey guys! I’m LeeAnne!

I live for celebrity gossip and iced coffee. I’m a control freak that stresses out about EVERYTHING! I love things that are pink, sparkly, and shabby chic. I love the smell of fresh flowers and cupcakes fresh out of the oven.

I live in an adorable two-bedroom apartment in Boston with my crazy, awesome, hipster roommate Jackie and her cat Gordon. I’m a Broadcast Journalism student at Emerson College but don’t want to go into hard news (too depressing) and am hoping to pursue a career in producing documentaries or reality TV shows.

Follow me on twitter @leeannesmith and check out my blog at http://lasmith.tumblr.com/.

Our On Staff Makeup Artist, Tanya Barlow

Hello there, my name is Tanya.

When people ask me where I’m from, things get a little complicated. Like many of the mixed race persuasion, my accent is a little bit all over the place. I’d say right now, it’s veering on the American side, with a hint of Kiwi twang here and there. I’m Eurasian and proud of it- half New Zealander, half Singaporean, but I grew up in Hong Kong.

Boston Branch and Designer, Sarah Schneider

I’m Sarah, and I’m originally from Germany but I grew up in Shanghai, China.

Before attending Emerson College for Writing, Literature & Publishing, I took a gap year to study Mandarin at East China Normal University, possibly the best decision my mother forced me to make.

My concentration at Emerson is nonfiction writing and magazine journalism, and although the transition from Shanghai to Boston was tricky, I’ve started to really love this city. I’m also occasionally hilarious at @srahschneider
