Coachella Couture

By Gabi Conti / LA

No, I did not go to Coachella. And although I tweeted “So many less D-bags in LA today. They’re probably all at Coachella.” I assure you that was partly out of jealously and partly out of the scientific fact that I knew at last one D-bag who attended Coachella. Also a fact, people liked that status update on Facebook.

So Coachella fashion, since it’s usually as hot as balls in the dessert mid April, Coachella fashion trends are usually a good indication of what you’ll be wearing this summer. You can probably trace the trends of Raybans, fedoras and flannel back to one of these music festivals.

Dreaming About: Music Festivals

By Sarah Schneider / Boston

While I’ve been to quite a few concerts, I can only say I’ve been to one music festival. It was freezing, and I was slightly under dressed, but more than anything, I was ill-equipped.

After fighting my way to the front, I soon realized I was trapped. I’d have to burrow my way through the hordes of people to get to food and water, something I was not willing to do since Dylan was going on next. Instead, I begged the girl next to me for a sip of her water. She gave it to me, thankfully. Next time, though, so I don’t need to ask strangers like a person who wants to be drugged and murdered, I’m bringing my own backpack chockfull of water and Special K.

Ideally, it would be the beautiful Hunter Rucksack from Bill Amberg. Also ideally, I’ll be wearing Zara’s crochet dress and the House of Harlow 1960 earrings I’ve been coveting for months. Maybe by next year’s Coachella.

Konad Nail Art

By Tanya Barlow / Auckland, New Zealand

Have you ever tried nail art? I’d read about the Konad nail art craze and had to try it for myself. I purchased my little kit from Amazon.com, but you can also find them here. If you keep an eagle eye out at your local nail salons, they might have them too- I saw some in Auckland just the other day. I picked up the Scraper and Double Ended Stamper set, as well as plates M56, M57, M79 and M3.

So first of all, just like whenever I try something new for the first time, I looked up a tutorial on youtube. Here’s the easiest one, though it’s a little long!

Trying Konad For The First Time (Sorry guys, embedding was disabled by request)

I went for China Glaze in Spontaneous as a base, and used a black nail polish from Precision. From various reviews I’d read, I don’t think it really matters which brand of nail polish you use for stamping. At least that’s what I’ve found, anyway.

Here’s the result! (Apologies for the cuticles, yikes!)

Fashion For Thought

By Gabi Conti / LA

As a kid, I tried too hard.

Especially when it came to fashion or “dress-up days”. Like Halloween when I painted myself yellow to be Marge Simpson. Or Saint Patrick’s Day when I spray dyed my hair green. To which one of the obnoxious “popular” girls looked me up and down wearing her brand new Kelly green Juicy Culture Cardigan which I was immensely jealous of and snorted, “Are you even Irish?!”

Are you even Irish? What kind of question is that?! It’s Saint Patrick’s Day, a day regardless of your nationality you wear green. Right?

So no we’re “adult” whatever that means, and while I don’t advise spray dying your hair green, I was able to find some stylish and affordable green options, so you can stay stylish and spirited this Saint Patrick’s Day.

Fashion Week Goes Green

By Sarah Schneider / Boston

Although there was a lot of orange on the runways in Paris, Milan, London and New York these past fashion weeks, designers also put out a few St. Patrick-friendly pieces.

Tanya’s EOTD: Today’s Lesson is Smokey Saffron

By Tanya Barlow / Auckland, New Zealand

Just thought I’d do a simple EOTD (that’s Eye of the Day for you non make up nerds) today. I was having a look at recent M.A.C. collections, Peacocky and Mickey Contractor, and a few shades caught my eye. Don’t get me started on Peacocky’s Kissable Lip Colour, I’m all over it! Reviews and swatches to come soon!

I fell completely in love with Saffron and have been sneaking it into my daily looks a little too often! Feeling inspired by the hint of autumn in Auckland today, I felt like wearing something a little warmer.
